SANDY and NJ Shore....

I have heard from some of my family last night. They still had power and phone service. Tried today and was not able to get through on home numbers nor cell phones. So, I am guessing there are down Cell Towers too!

The link is to a photo of Rt. 37 heading to the Mathis Bridge over to Seaside. Our house is about 7 blocks from this location.

Route 37 - Mathis Bridge Flooding

Pic below is of the rising water levels. Water has never been that close to the bridge.

Seaside Bridge - Monday water levels before Sandy hit

Here are some pictures of the Seaside Boardwalk which was only about 5 miles from our home. Seaside is on a Barrier island which is covered with water. News coverage had the NJ Governor stating that he could not even land with a helicopter.

Lavalette is a town that flooded. It is were my husband and I got married. The town in located next to Seaside Heights on the same Barrier island.

Orange Blog Hop

Welcome to the Third Annual Fiskateers ORANGE Blog Hop!
If you're hopping along, you should have come from ****MAYA #351****.  (If you are joining us in the middle, go to to start from the beginning.)
Today we are celebrating Fiskars' signature color, ORANGE.  Almost everyone is familiar with Fiskars' famous orange-handled scissors, but Fiskars makes so many other wonderful products for crafting, sewing, gardening, and more.  Each stop along our Hop will feature different Fiskars' products with a big helping of ORANGE!

Since my daughter was having "Orange Day" at school. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get an Monochromatic page done. Plus, it is Orange so fitting for Fiskars and this Blog Hop! So, here is "Orange Day!"

I used a bunch of Orangeness for this page as well as a bunch of different techniques.

Corset Lacing technique using my Fiskars Spring Eyelet Punch/Setter

Used my Threading Water Border Punch, some cute Orange Brads, Felt Pumpkin and Paper/Fabric Flowers

This is a photo that totally captures my daughter and her goofy personality. Plus, she was Announcing "Orange Day" to me as I took her picture!

I will be getting some "ORANGENESS" goodies together for those of you who leave a comment. Make sure you include your Fiskateer name and #

Also, would love it if you would follow my blog and let me know if you have a blog of your own! That way I can hop on over and see what your up too!

For more information about Fiskars and the Fiskateer program, you can go to

Now, hop along to the next stop!  ****DONNA #6036****

So, make sure you check out all the "ORANGENESS" on all the Blogs you have the whole weekend. Fiskars will be providing a lucky Fiskateer or two who make it all the way through the Hop! The official end  of the HOP is Sunday, October 28 at 11:59 pm Central.

Thanks for visiting me!

Paper Secrets SYAO Round 2 - Week #39

39th Layout Done!
I have to say if I wasn't pushed with these challenges each week. I think my vacation photos would still be sitting in a pile!
Used: some type of cork, 7 + Patterned Papers, Burlap, Rub-ons on my photos
Techniques: Machine Stitching

Burlap, Machine Stitching and a few of those Patterned Papers

Burlap, Machine Stitching, Cork and Rub-on that did go well!

Machine Stitching, Cork, some of those 7+ Patterned Papers and a so-so Rub-on!

I  don't know if anyone else has experienced the love hate relationship with Rub-ons, but this was one of those experiences. Not sure if it was because the photos were glossy or what. All were from the same set an some came out fine while others just stunk!

The Best out of 3 rub-ons I used!

Finally, Here is my full page from our trip to Arkansas back in 2008.

This week we had another 2 page layout.

The sketch we were given:

Ribbon Palooza

My Ribbon Palooza layout is up over at If It's Groovy!

I have been wanting to do a page using hexagons for a while now! Back in January IIG DT Member, Heather posted a sketch that I used for my layout! Thanks Heather for the great sketch! So, "One of the BOYS, now!" page was a fun event that had my husband and I smiling from the second we "try it" until dinner that night! My son needed a bike helmet, his 1st bike helmet mind you. "The Boys" aka his cousin and neighborhood boys are always riding their bikes around our house. My son, Luke is always right behind them! Monkey see monkey do type thing. So, we get out to buy a helmet and as soon as it is clipped on. It never came off! Through the store Luke wore his new helmet. At the cashier counter he would not take it off. Into the truck for the ride home. He sat all proud in his car seat with his helmet. So, I had to get a shot of him in the car seat when we finally got home. Luke was telling me holding up one finger, "One da Boys!"

I used papers from a Close to my Heart pack called, Fanfare. Cut out a large Hexagon and smaller ones using the Accent Essentials cartridge on the Cricut. Choose a Ribbon Palooza in coordinating colors.

Popped up my photos using Foam tape and added my title with glitter foam alphabets. On the yellow hexagon the white glitter didn't show up as well so I outlined those with a red glitter pen.V
